He landed a good one out of O-H-I-O!!!

Welcome to the "Den", Jacob Moon!!!

The exciting news regarding the Hofstra Wrestling program's newest acquisition came earlier tonight when a person in the know confirmed that the talented Ohio lightweight "had been committed for a while, but was too modest/low-key to make a formal announcement of his declaration."

Projected as a career 125-pounder on the collegiate level, the Oregon Clay High School standout enters his senior campaign ranked 20th in the land at 120 by FloWrestling and boasting a three-year varsity record of 120-15...Willie Saylor named him as one of the top-200 (#169) prospects in the 2021 class!

A 2019 OHSAA State bronze medalist as a sophomore (his lone loss being a 1-0 decision in the semifinals to the eventual champ), Moon was regarded by many Ohio insiders as the favorite to win the Division I crown at 113 pounds last season, but was denied that opportunity when the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He concluded his junior season with an impressive 39-3 mark.

When he arrives on campus next fall, he will bring with him a wealth of national experience that will enable him to quickly and smoothly make the transition between levels of competition.

Testing himself against elite fields throughout his scholastic journey, on two separate occasions, Moon has finished in the money at the Walsh Ironman, claiming 4th in 2019 after at 113 after previously taking 6th as a freshman in 2017 at 106 (he did not enter in 2018).

In addition, in his last three appearances at the Super 32/Battle for the Belt, he collected 14 wins, advancing to the blood round in both 2018 and 2019, and winning five bouts this past October.

Pursued by a plethora of other DI suitors, Moon choose HU over offers from the likes of Lehigh, Kent State, and Cleveland State...Multiple Ivy League schools and the United States' Military Academy were said to also be in the conversation

Taking into consideration his full body of work, it could be strongly argued that Moon is the best wrestler from the Buckeye State to commit to Hofstra during the initial recruiting process since Mike Pucillo in 2005...Pucillo later returned home where he went on to become a three-time All-American and a 2008 NCAA National Champion for tOSU; so this is no small compliment!
