These rankings are based on the results as of Dec 22, 2007. They are the opinions of a few people who review the results and attempt to make reasonable inferences.  The best use of the rankings is to help evaluate the competition at your chosen weight class.

Head-to-head matches this year had precedence over all other criteria.  Where there were no head-to-head matches this year, head-to-head matches from last season held precedence.   Where there was no head-to-head but a common opponent – even if the common opponent was from last year – that factored into the ranking.  In the absence of common opponents and head-to-head matches placement in S8 tournament held precedence.  And for everything else opinion was heavily used.

It’s still early, so be patient and the best people will float to the top.  There are still challenges in doing the rankings with regard to reporting.  Newsday has the best coverage believe it or not, but they are still missing matches.   One other problem is that wrestler’s names are spelled many different ways, so it’s not always clear if we are matching up the right people.

When there are more matches to make good inferences, the top 6 will be ranked.   I would expect that to happen somewhere around mid to late January.

Contact the ranking committee by email at s8rankings@yahoogroups.com with any name or grade corrections or significant results you think we may have missed or other pertinent information you may know for any wrestlers. Send results with your first and last name, or better yet, post them to the forum.
